Hello, Thanks for visiting my website. My name is Pat VonTersch and I started a company called Professional Ag Marketing Inc.   Professional Ag Marketing was created to advise area grain and livestock producers on risk management alternatives for their operation.

A little background about myself, I was born and raised on a family farm near Denison, IA where we produced corn, soybeans, hogs as well as a cow-calf operation. I attended Iowa State University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business.

I joined Cargill Inc. as a management trainee in 1991 immediately after graduation. I held various management and merchandising positions for Cargill for 10 years including:

o       Origination merchant for a terminal elevator in Savage, MN.

o       Assistant manager in charge of grain procurement for a country elevator in Clarion, Iowa.

o       Manager for grain elevator in Hills, MN.

o       Manager for grain elevator in Pipestone, MN.

o       General Manager for 4 facilities in SW Minnesota and SE South Dakota.

In 2001 I resigned from Cargill to become involved in producer risk management. I started a branch office for Advance Trading Inc. and worked with area grain and livestock producers on risk management alternatives for their operations. In January of 2006 I started my own business called “Professional Ag Marketing” with the same goals of assisting producers with risk management.

Again, thanks for taking the time to visit my site. It is my goal to be a partner and resource for you to make good marketing decisions. Please do not hesitate to call me when you have any questions.

Hi my name is Jeff Hoogendoorn. I started working with Pat at Professional Ag Marketing the first week of November. I am excited about the opportunity to join Pat and Professional Ag Marketing in his quest to help grain and livestock producers manage their price risk. I would like to give you a quick update about myself and what I have been doing thus far in my career.
Background:
I grew up between Rock Valley and Inwood, IA working for neighboring producers as well as on the family row crop business. I attended Iowa State University and obtained a B.S. in Animal Science. After college I went to work for Cargill for 7 years. Today, I have been married to my wife Crystal for 4 years and have a 2 year old son. We currently live a few miles out of Canton, SD.
Work Experience:
The position I held while at Cargill was a Pork Consultant within a small part of the company called the Pork Enterprise Group. Throughout my Cargill career I had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest and best producers in Minnesota and the NW parts of Iowa. Our job was to understand our customer’s business and continually work with them to improve. Some of the areas I had a chance to gain some experience in are:
• Detailed analysis of cost of production and ways to improve it under current and future market conditions
• Working with producers to understand how decisions made today could impact profitability.
• Data analysis of close outs and events that did or did not trigger a change in the business.
• Many different angles to pork production improvements.
• Allocating other company resources to customers, giving me some exposure to other parts of the Ag industry
including: Ethanol, Risk Management, and Finance.
Today, I am actively involved in row crop and livestock production agriculture, along side of my position with Professional Ag Marketing.
I look forward to meeting you and working together in the future. It is my goal to be a partner and resource for you to make good marketing decisions. Please do not hesitate to call me when you have any questions.
