Hogs

- Hogs continued to the upside for the 4th straight day Friday putting a new high on the April contract at 95.975.
- Despite the weakness in the cattle market hogs seemed unfazed but did come off the early morning highs.
- The $10 higher cash earlier in the week seemed like it sparked the bulls to get them out of their choppiness range.
- The market may be nearing overbought levels and could be due for a correction this week.

Grains

- Grains markets were closed on Monday due to MLK day.
- Corn finished the week on a positive note 7 ½ cents off the lows for the week as it tries to figure out its next direction after Mondays bearish WASDE.
- Soybeans finished 20 cents off the soybean lows for the week after some follow though after some hefty export sales to China and strength in the bean oil market.

Cattle

- Feeder cattle ended the week down $8.10 on the march after some rumors of screwworm potentially existing inside Texas.
- There was some cash trade in late last week in Texas, Kansas and Nebraska at 233 but may be slightly disappointing since we were 232 the previous week.
- Friday’s trade proves how sensitive this cattle market is to any outside news and how quickly it can lose interest from outside money.

Weather
- The long weekend was mostly dry in the U.S., save for scattered snow showers in the Midwest and rains in the Southeast; a cold snap is setting in this week, with temps below zero at present in the eastern Dakotas, MN, IA, WI.
- Northern Argentina saw heavy rains over the weekend, though dry portions of central/southern growing areas largely missed out again with forecasts staying largely dry as a heat wave sets in during the 6-10-day window; Brazil saw very scattered rains over the weekend, with good totals seen in eastern growing areas but much of the center west missing out.
